Skincare :: Konjac cleansing sponge

I've heard so many good things about konjac cleansing sponge that when it finally came to Poland I had to try it. And got to say I love it! My sponge is by a Polish brand Zenner Eva Schmidt.

What is 'konjac'?

Konjac is a perennial plant grown in India, Japan and Korea. It's mainly used as a a vegan substitute for gelatin, it's also popular in Japanese cuisine. But it's also used in cosmetics.

My opinion

The sponge comes moist. In a foil packaging it looks almost like a piece of mozzarella. When I first touched it I wasn't sure what to think of it. I was susprised how gentle and soft it was, but at the same time it felt kind of disgusting because it's slimy and I had to get used to it.

There's a string attached so you can hang the sponge to dry. When it's dry it shrinks and becomes very hard. All you have to do to make it soft again is to dip it in water.

It may be used without any cleanser but I prefer to use it with a foaming cleanser. However you have to remove your makeup first, otherwise it's difficult to clean the sponge. My skins looks beautiful after the cleanse, just like after using a good polishing scrub, however, is not irritated. Sponge works fine even with no foaming cleansers, such as Cetaphil.

I've been using konjac sponge twice a day and my skin looks great, it's much more even and brighter. The facial massage with a warm konjac sponge is very relaxing.

I don't really know how long you can use konjac sponge but I can't see any traces of wear on mine. On the packaging it says that the sponge can be washed in a washing machine in 60 degrees Celsius (no softening agents) but I haven't tried that yet.

Nails :: Beauty but a beast (H&M On Ice)

I was drawn to it because of a cute bottle and pretty pastel colour. But it turned out to be a beast hidden in all that beauty.

ON Ice by H&M is surprisingly opaque in only one coat. Applying it however is a nightmare because of the brush which is fluffy, soft and flabby so it's really difficult to control spreading of the nail polish.

Somehow I managed to pant my nails with that rediculous brush although it was very frustrating. I finished yesterday about 5 PM and went to sleep after midnight. Nail polish seemed to be dry but today I saw this:

I really don't knnow how long it takes to dry completely! Rubbish!

Makeup :: My (almost) new neutral Inglot eyeshadow palette

Recently I decided to rearrange my two neutral Inglot eyeshadow palettes. So far I stored them in two ten-pan magnetic palettes but it wasn't convenient because I usually use both of them. I bought a 20-pan magnetic palette and now I have all Inglot neutrals in one place which makes it so much easier to use. A side effect of that is that now I have two empty 10-pan palettes and I'm tempted to buy some more colours...

The magnets are much stronger than in the smaller Inglot palettes, so you need to be careful when opening because they can accidentally catch a shadow.

By the way, I came to the conclusion that I would use all my Sleek eyeshadow palettes more often if they were depoted into one big palette. I could group them in some more useful way. Usually I use more than one palette at a time because I get bored with colour matches that someone else came up with. Do you prefer the original eyeshadow packaging or do you depot your eyeshadows?

Skincare :: Delarom Paris, Exfoliating Face Mask (a review)

As I learned from the brochure that I received with the mask Delarom Paris is a brand that creates "products allying natural and innovating formulas, original textures and delicate fragrances". Delarom products are free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicone, mineral oils and animal originating products.

***

Delarom Paris, Exfoliating Face Mask With Pink Clay

Claims

This double action mask works in two steps: 1. a treatment action to bring strenght and vitality the first minutes. 2. a peeling action, after 7 to 10 minutes the mask is removed, eliminating dead cells and impurities. The skin is soft and glowing.

Ingredients

The mask contains purifying pink clay, gentle exfoliating litchi powder, hydrating mallow extract, and anti-ageing rose extract.
INCIAQUA, KAOLIN, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CERA ALBA, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, LITCHI CHINENSIS KERNEL POWDER, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER, ROSA DAMASCENA EXTRACT, CARRAGEENAN, MALPIGHIA PUNICIFOLIA EXTRACT, MALVA SYLVESTRIS EXTRACT, PARFUM, BENZYL ALCOHOL, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, CITRIC ACID.

My opinion

The mask is a thick reddish pink paste with small exfoiliating beads. It has an herbal scent to it but not too intense.

It's recommended to apply a thick layer once or twice a week and leave it for 7-10 minutes. Then gently scrub and rinse with water. On the first use I was surprised that my skin didn't feel tightened or itchy as it happens with many clay-based face masks. There's no need to spray the face with water as the mask dries out only to small degree. The exfoiliating particles aren't too abrasive but still very efficient which I really like. After rinsing off my skin is slightly flushed, soft and really smooth. It absorbs any skin care products quickly and looks beautiful.

It says on the tube that it's suitable for all skin types but you should be extremaly careful if your skin is sensitive, because despite the fact it's very gentle it's still an exfoiliator.

Is it worth buying? I finished one tube and won't buy another although it's a lovely product. Why? Simply because it's too expensive. But if I was looking for a high(er) end face mask and could afford it I would definitely consider this one and other Delarom products.

Makeup & Skincare :: Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - first impressions

I've never tried a "real" BB cream, so I'm not going to compare Garnier product to any of these creams. I'm just sharing my first impressions after the first application of BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector which was launched in Poland this week.

The cream is available in two shades - for light and darker complexion. I chose the one for light skin but as I supposed it's quite dark and way too yellow for me. It gives a very light coverage, more like a tinted moisturizer.

If feels quite thick in texture but soaks into the skin giving a light sheen which disappears after about five minutes leaving the skin matte but somewhat glowy. Unfortunately, it seems it's not moisturizing enough for my combo skin. I feel some kind of discomfort and would love to wash it off :(.

Nails :: Catrice, 770 Put Lavender On Agenda

Apart from the disappointing Genius in the Bottle I also bought 770 Put Lavender On Agenda. It's a truly lavender colour, though a bit dusty, more like a dried lavender.

The nail polish is not of a best quality I'm afraid. One coat seems to be opaque but in the daylight I could see some smudges so I decided to put another coat. And it turned out to be quite difficult. This nail polish is very thick and the second coat is not easy to spread. It's a shame because I really like the colour :(.

Makeup :: Probably the best highlighter in the world (theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer)

I love higlighting powders and use them almost everyday. Even though I have quite a collection I'm always drawn to the new products, so my collection gets bigger and bigger. So far my favourites were MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle and Catrice highlighting powder from their Enter the Wonderland limited editon. But now I found my HG: Mary-Lou Manizer by theBalm.

First of all I fell in love with that beautiful packaging. It's so cute, besides it's of a good quality and has a mirror.

Inside there's a light shiny pearly powder with a hue of gold. It has a very creamy and silky texture which makes application really easy - you can use a brush, a sponge or just your fingers. If you feel like you've applied too much you can just blend it with a brush or fingers.

As I mentioned Mary-Lou is a pearly shade with a hue of gold and it looks stunning on pale to medium skin. However if youre skin is darker it might not be the right choice sadly.

Applied to the cheekbones gives a beautiful candle like glow with no shimmer or glitter. It's a multipurpose product, you can use it on your face, as an eyeshadow or as a higlighter on your brow bone or inner corners of your eyes or even at the center of your lips to make the look plumper. What makes it even more special is its staying power. It really lasts all day.
