Nails :: Revlon 095 Facets of Fuchsia [NOTD]

I fell in love with this nail polish when I first saw it. Beautiful shiny glitter embedded in black base, just wonderful.

Unfortunately I have no patience for it. It's opaque after aplying three coats which is much too much for me as I always use base coat and top coat. It would take me ages to do my nails if I were to apply five or more coats of products. So I decided to use Facets of Fuchsia over another dark nail polish and it works great. In the photo below Facets of Fuchsia is layered over one coat Alluring Night by Catrice (from Welcome to Las Vegas limited edition).

Skincare :: Chocomania line by The Body Shop

At The Body Shop stores a new Chocomania line is available. In the range there's a body butter, body scrub, shower gel, soap and lip butter. These smell soooooo good! Not really like chocolate, more like some delicious dessert. I bought body butter, shower gel and heart-shaped soap.

Makeup :: Max Factor Colour Elixir lipsticks (715, 720, 755)

Max Factor Colour Elixir lipstick in the shade 833 Rosewood is one of my favorite lipsticks of recent months. I love its moisturizing properties, beautiful color and staying power. No wonder that when I saw these lipsticks 10PLN off I had to pick some more.

I bought three shades: 715 Ruby Tuesday (bright red, a tiny bit brighter than no. 10 by Rimmel), 720 Scarlet Ghost (cold, deep raspberry red - less pink than in the picture) and 755 Firefly (a bit more pink than 833 Rosewood, but very similar to my natural lip colour). They are creamy, with no shimmer, with semi-satin finish.

Nails :: Sally Hansen, Complete Salon Manicure, Perfect Match [NOTD]

Perfect Match is one of those reds that do vary depending on the lighting. Sometimes it's dark, almost maroon, rather cool, and in different light it appears bloody and multidimensional. That last thing really surprised me, because it seems rather flat, with a slight shimmer, but in the sunlight it looks almost like a jelly with shimmer. A strange thing :)

I really like Complete Salon Manicure range. These polishes have good brushes and a nice texture. In theory, they do not require neither base nor top coat, but I never apply a colour over bare nails.

Makeup :: First impressions - new products in my makeup bag

I recently bought some new makeup. I didn't use any of it long enough to be able to review them, but I can describe my first impressions.

1/ L'oréal, Lumi Magique, Light Infusing Foundation, N3 Pure Linen
The shade was not my choice and it's too dark, but surprisingly matches my skin better than Match Perfection by Rimmel. However, I think it has to wait until summer. Apparently, N3 is the lightest shade in the range (at least in Poland) and I need N1 judging from the experience with True Match. This foundation has a nice smooth texture. It applies evenly giving semi matte, slightly luminous finish.

2/ Rimmel, Wake Me Up Concealer, 010 Ivory
It has a nice texture and is suitable for under your eyes. Looks quite nice though it seems to me that its staying power is not great. Shade 010 Ivory is very pale and matches my skin perfectly.

3/ L'oréal, Super Liner Perfect Slim, Intense Black.
So far I'm delighted. The pen has a pointed tip perfect for precise lines. It's longlasting and deeply black.

4/ Manhattan, Supersize Mascara, 101 On Black
Another mascara with a humongous brush. But this time it's so much better than in ScandalEyes Mascara by Rimmel. It coats eyelashes quickly and efficiently. quickly and efficiently. They are emphasised and separated, but it's not a mascara that would give you false lash effect.

5/ Essence, Circus Circus, Longlasting Eyeshadow, 01 It's Magic i 02 Raise the Curtain for...
They seem more greasy, less pigmented and less durable than Stay All Day eyeshadows from regular Essence range. Overall I am disappointed.

6/ Max Factor, Colour Elixir Lipstick, 715 Ruby Tuesday, 720 Scarlet Ghost, 755 Firefly
Beautiful colours, properties identical to my previous lipstick in shade 833 Rosewood.

Makeup :: Rimmel, Match Perfection, Cream Gel Foundation - no!

I'm somewhat prejudice towards Rimmel foundations, just like some other drugstore brands. What discourages me is the poor range of shades. But after reading hundreds of positive Rimmel Match Perfection reviews I decided to try it. It would be stupid not to try a brilliant product just because of some stupid prejudices, right? Truns out I have to trust my intuition...

Ingredients:
AQUA, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SODIUM ACRYLATE, SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE, SORBITAN LAURATE, MICA, SODIUM PCA, CAPRYL GLYCOL, LECITHIN, ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE, CINNAMAL, TOCOPHERYL, DIMETHICONE, LIMONENEAILYLATE, BUTHYL PHENYL, MATHELPROPIONAL, SAPPHIRE POWDER.

Foundation is sold in small jars made of thick glass. I presume it's supposed to give the illusion of bigger amount of product (it's only 18 ml!). Packaging is not very hygienic, but I always wash my hands before doing makeup so I'm not worried about germs. However, everytime you open the container the foundation is exposed to the oxygen, which isn't good for any cosmetic product. On the other hand I can't really imagine that it would be possible to put such a texture into a bottle with a pump. There's no information about the ingredients on the packaging.

The foundation does not feel like a gel at all, but indeed feels kind of jelly. It has a funny and quite strong smell, but it doesn't bother me. It immediately soaks to the skin (you have to work quickly otherwise it would streak), giving the cold feel, which isn't necessarily a pleasant feeling in the winter. It evens out the skin tone and slightly tightens the skin.

The colour range is rediculous. All the shades are quite dark with stron yellow undertones. The lightest shade - 100 Ivory - is way too yellow for me but in daylight looks decent for some time. However in artificial light it turns orange and I look really sick. Definitely not a match perfection.

Avoid it if have any kind of dry patches on your face because Match Perfection will accentuate them. That happens with every matte finish foundation so I'm not surprised. However Match Perfection also dries out my combination skin, causing itching and overproduction of sebum making my skin very shiny in the T-zone. Shortly after application my skin looks nice and smooth, but after about half an hour the foundation begins to kind of separate from the skin and looks disgusting.

What I hate about this foundation is also it's staying power. Aside from the fact that it makes my skin shiny after about half an hour it simply doesn't last long. It transfers on cloths, phone and you can just wipe it off with a tissue. It vanishes after two hours. It is also totally not waterresistant. Perhaps because of Sorbitian Laurate it dissolves when mixed with water, so don't use it if it snows or rains.

Perfect Match plus water

The last thing I don't like is that the company promises to make your skin instantly perfect. Well, the coverage is very light so you really need to have perfect skin.

Skincare :: Botáni, Rescue Eye Treatment

One of my favourites in 2011 was Olive Skin Serum by an Australian brand Botáni. Another Botáni products I tried was Rescue Eye Treatment.

All the Botáni products contain only natural plant ingredients and are free of mineral oils, paraffin oil, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, petroleym jelly and lanoline.

Botáni's claims

Rescue Eye Treatment is a natural eye lift and support gel. Enriched with Olive Squalene, it provides a daily hydration boost for your delicate eye area. It is gel based and specifically formulated to optimises skin health and rejuvenation, soothing, calming and reducing puffiness under the eyes.

Enriched with elite plant actives, arnica to help reduce swelling and liquorice root extract to reduce dark circles around the eyes.
(botani.com.au)

Ingredients
PURIFIED WATER (AQUA), ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, XANTHAN GUM, GLYCERIN HYDROLYSED SOYA PROTEIN, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM (AND) HYDROLYSED RHIZOBIAN GUM WATER (AND) GLYCERIN (AND) BETA-GLUCAN, EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (EYEBRIGHT) EXTRACT,CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) SEED EXTRACT, POTASSIUM ORBATE, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) EXTRACT, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) EXTRACT OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) LEAF EXTRACT, EQUISETUM ARVENSE (HORSETAIL) EXTRACT, ARNICA MONTANA EXTRACT, VANILLIN, SQUALANE (OLIVE)

I love the packaging. It's minimalistic, hygienic and contains quite a lot of product (25 ml).

The cream is light-weight, has a bit watery texture. In fact it's more like a light lotion than a cream. It is greenish, has delicate herbal smell (liquorice?). It absorbs quickly giving a feeling of coolnes and making the skin look tighter and firmer. It does help to get rid of morning puffiness. I didn't notice that it helped to reduce the undereye circles though. But to be fair mine undereye circles are quite severe and I don't believe there's anything that can help me.

A little goes a long way so 25 ml is really a lot.

Eye Rescue Treatment is one of the best eye creams I've ever used but it's a true miracle worker if layered over Botáni Olive Skin Serum.

I was sent this product by the Polish Botani distributor. However it does not influence my judgement in any way.

Nails :: Moonlight [NOTD]

A little experiment today. I applied on coat of Silver Lining by Sally Hansen, and then Moonlight Express by Catrice (for Out of Space limited edition). They both created blue night sky and silver moon.

Makeup :: Kate Moss Rimmel Lipsticks (02, 05, 10)

Some time ago I bought one of Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick in 10 (it's "10" in Poland and obviously "01" elsewhere). Because I really liked it I picked up two more - 02 and 05. Lasting Finish lipsticks are of good quality in general and so are these three - longlasting and not drying.

No. 10 is almost the same as Inglot's no. 866 lipstick but isn't so drying and I really prefer it over Inglot.

Nails :: Blackout - Catrice Drama Queen [NOTD]

Another dark nail polish, this time the sexy jet black with gold shimmer from Catrice Welcome to Las Vegas limited edition adequatly called Drama Queen. The shimmer is much smaller than in the Old Gold Buffy by Essence, so from the distance it looks solid black, only up close you can see the gold dust.

Makeup :: Inglot, False Lash Effect Mascara + eyeliner pencil

I love some of Inglot products (eyeshadows!!!) but I've never tried their mascara, so when the new False Lash Effect Mascara was launched I decided to buy it. And to be honest I regret this purchase.

False Lash Effect Mascara

The brush is just a typical classic mascara brush, nothing fancy. I felt reliefed to see that it's not one of those huge brushes (like in ScandalEyes by Rimmel or Big Bold Mascara by Isadora). It's rather thin, but soft and flexible, so it distributes mascara evenly with no clumping.

The mascara itself is quite dry and it's really difficult to build up the volume, so instead of the promised false lash effect it's only natural effect which is disappointing. Moreover, the mascara is not black enough, it flakes and after a few hours there's no trace of it on my eyelashes, everything is under my eyes. The only pros are that it doesn't smudge. I do not recommend it.

Eyeliner pencil

This eyeliner pencil was a free gift that came with the mascara. It's one of those automatic pencils that you don't need to sharpen. There's a small sponge on the other end to smudge the line. The stick is quite hard but at the same time it's really easy to break it. It's not pigmented enough, it's more like a graphite than a black. It's almost impossible to smoke this liner out because it's really hard and you really have to rub it and that's not a good thing for your eyes. It's not suitable for the waterline. I don't recommend this either.

Nails :: Catrice, 02 Alluring Night [NOTD]

One of my favourite nail polishes recently is Alluring Night by Catrice from Welcome to Las Vegas limited edition. It's a beautiful deep blue with a hint of green. It looks great with my pale skin which is not usual. One coat is enough and I have to say that I'm impressed by the quality of nail polishes in Catrice and Essence limited editions.

Makeup :: Easy Saturday makeup [EOTD]

I discovered that my Everyday Minerals blush in Snuggle works great as a neutral eyeshadow. Here's a simple and quick Saturday makeup. By the way, one of my fabourite makeup tricks is to apply a tiny bit of blusher to my eyes over any makeup I already have. It makes the whole face look fresh and even.

Nails :: New french manicure - my first time [NOTD]

Some new trend do not appel to me or even I find them repulsive. But then after some time they beginning to intrigue me more and more becoming an obsession. That was the case with the "new french manicure." I'm not a fan of a classic french mani, but this new trend of nail tips painted with a contrasting color really appelas to me now. I decided to try it in a very safe version, adding just a shimmering nail polish to the tips.
