Makeup :: The Body Shop, 4-Step Smoky Eyes, 02 Golden Brown

New 4-Step Smoky Eyes palettes by The Body Shop have been launched this month. There are to versions: 01 Silver Black and 02 Golden Brown. I bought the second one as it might be used for daily makeup.

Palette is packed in a cardboard box, the brush and mini kohl pencil are visible through cut (I recommend to wash the brush before using.) There are step by step instructions on the back of the packaging, unfortunetly picture only. I think a flyer or a sticker on the actual palette would be much more useful, because once you throw away the carton packaging you're throwing away instructions as well.

The palette itself is very elegant and luxurious-looking. Glossy black with golden elements looks really expensive. The packaging is easy to open, there's a nice mirror inside and a place for the brush and kohl pencil. The palette dimensions are identical to the 'Brush With Fashion' ones, but shadows are a bit smaller (2 g instead of 2,2 g).

In Golden Brown palette there are two pearl shades (champagne and brown), one matt (dark brown) and one cream (golden highlighter). The shadows are excellent - velvety, well-pigmented, longlasting, blendable and with no fall-out, which is a nice change after a few weeks of using mostly Sleek eyeshadow palettes.

I was a bit disappointed with the mini kohl pencil (Rich Brown), because for unknown reasons, it is harder and drier than the same shade from Boho Beauty eyeshadow palette from Brush With Fashion LE. It's not suitable for the water line.

Another thing is that's difficult to create smoky eyes look with only one brush, if you want to follow instructions on the package (first you use light shadow, then darker, then the darkest, and in the end cream highlighter). In fact it's difficult even if you have two brushes and I think you'd nead at least four brushes - one to apply the lightest shade, another to apply two darker shades, a blending brush and a synthetic brush to apply the cream highlighter. However, using this palette you can create some "one brush" looks, not necessarily smokey eyes. Either way it's good quality brush.

There are two palettes available: 01 Silver Black and 02 Golden Brown.

Skincare :: Sephora, Instant Depuffing Roll-on Gel

Usually in the morning my eyes are puffy and it gets worse as I'm getting older. So I'm always on a hunt for something that owuld improve the situation. I tried many eye creams and gels, gel masks and other stuff, but honestly nothing proved to be effective. Recently I bought Instant Depuffing Roll-on Gel by Sephora and been using it for couple of weeks. I love it!

Delivered from a simple-to-use roll-on applicator, this remarkable multi-action gel creates a refreshed look in the eye area, instantly. Its updated formula includes HydroSenn+, a natural ingredient proven to deliver immediate and long-lasting hydration more effectively than hyaluronic acid. Made with light-reflecting pigments, a single application visibly diminishes the appearance of puffiness while an extract of red vine leaf works to diminish the appearance dark circles. The roll-on applicator tip with three agitator beads stimulates drainage and microcirculation to leave eyes looking fresher and brighter.

It's in a soft elastic tube and I love this packaging. When you squeeze it you get exactly the amount you wanted. Those inflexible containters as in Garnier, Nivea, Clinique and other roll-ons make you waste the product because when rolling the ball you're also dosing the product and end up with far too much on your skin.

Instead of one metal ball this gel has three little balls which makes the draining massage more effective and product distribution easier.

The gel is colourless and transparent. There are no shiny particles even though Sephora claims there are some light reflecting particles. There's no scent to it. It doesn't contain parabens. It gives good moisture and really helps to get rid of morning puffiness. It's also great during the day when you need extra moisture around your eyes. You can aplly it on makeup and it won't ruin it provided you pat it gently on your skin with a fingertip rather than rolling it with the applicator.

I also recommend keeping the gel in the refrigerator, because it works even better when chilled.

Makeup :: Max Factor, Colour Elixir Lipstick, # 833 Rosewood - love it!

Throughout the summer I used mainly lip glosses, but the colder it gets the more lipstick gal I become. For some time I wanted to try Max Factor Colour Elixir lipstick and eventually bought the shade 833 Rosewood. It's gorgeous!

The tube is really cute and elegant. It doesn't open by itself, so no need to fear that the lipstick would smear inside your bag.

This lipstick surprised me. I expected a typical lipstick texture - rather slippery and greasy. Colour Elixir is thick and pigmented, yet extremely lightweight, smooth and velvety. It feels almost luxurious. It last a decent amount of time and disappears evenly and doesn't "bleed".

Does it moisturize and nourish my lips? Yes, definitely yes, and does a better job than many lip balms. I'm definitely going to buy some more shades!

Colour Elixir lipsticks are available in fifteen shades. I chose the most secure for me, that is, 833 Rosewood, which is a shade darker than my natural lip colour. It's creamy, without any shimmer and looks incredibly natural.
