Makeup :: Sephora Lash Amplifier

I really hate when mascara glues together my lashes. You can fight it with combs, brushes or choose a non clumpy mascara. I have another issue with my lashes - they're long and I always have mascara imprinted on my lids. It's so annoying especially if you have great makeup on your eyes and it gets spoiled by those little mascara dots.

I discovered recently a wonderfull Sephora gadget called Lash Amplifier. You place it on your lid and apply mascara. At first it was a bit difficult for me but it's a matter of practice. Mascara doesn't smudge, lashes are separated (the comb side is completely unnecessary), long and voluminous. It's also great on bottom lashes. I wonder how could I live without it! I've seen on You Tube people using a piece of plastic (for example a credit card which is really gross considering all the bacteria on it) but Lash Amplifier is specially curved and small which makes it much easier to use. There's one thing on a packaging that's not tru: it doesn't curl lashes. If you want to them curled use an eyelash curler beforehand.

How to use it:
"1. Place the curved part at the level of the upper lashes to protect the eyelid. Apply layers of mascara and load your lashes by pressing the curved part.2. If necessary, use the comb side to separate your lashes.3. You can repeat the same procedure at the root of the lower lashes."

Makeup :: Astor Perfect Stay Transferproof Lip Tint & Care

I got Perfect Stay Transferproof Lip Tint & Care Astor in 103 Rosewood Blush as a gift. I wanted to try out this product. However I was a bit concerned that the tint would be too runny or dry out my lips. Fortunately there are no such problems.

Using this marker you can fill in the lips within seconds. It sinks into the skin instantly, doesn't move or transfer. But you have to really take care of your lips and make sure they are smooth and properly moistened. Lip tint emphasised every imperfection I wasn't even aware of (you can probably see it in the picture). So remember to exfoliate your lips beforehand. Just take a bit of your lip balm on a cotton bud and massage your lips. After applying lip tint apply the balm that's on the other end of the marker. It gives a nice shine and protects the lips against drying out. The effect is more like a lip gloss but stays on much longer than an average lip gloss. It really is transferproof! Once applied stays in place. It's not sticky which is a great news for every girl who likes to wear her hair loose - there's no worse combination that loose hair, a sticky lip gloss and blowing wind...

The shade  103 Rosewood Blush suits me very well - it's quite dark pink that doesn't make me look like a vampire or a goth.

Makeup :: Essence Smokey Eyes Brush

Today I used my new Essence Smokey Eyes Brush for the first time. It's a small cute brush with soft elastic synthetic bristles. It's great for blending eyeshadows! And so cheap!

When I first saw Essence Smokey Eyes Brush I thought I didn't need it because it's just a cheaper version of my Inglot 8OHP. I was so wrong. Both brushes are the same size but have totally different properties. Inglot brush is stiffer, more dense. It doesn't work well as a blending brush but is great to apply eyeshadows.

Nails :: Catrice, 480 Miss Piggy Reloaded [NOTD]

Today it was time for Catrice nail polish in 480 Miss Piggy Reloaded (the name is adequate to the colour :) ). It has small sparkles that aren't visible unless you look really close. The problem with this nail polish is that you need three coats to get even coverage. It's not that bad as 540 Am I Blue or Green? which I wasn't able to apply evenly but honestly applying so many coats is just a waste of time for me.

Makeup :: Catrice, Photo Finish Foundation

I was very curious about new Catrice Photo Finish foundation but I thought it would be much too dark for my extremely pale complexion. I always have the same problem with foundations: either they are too dark or they oxidize and get darker. When I saw the elegant glass bottle of Photo Finish I decided to give it a go because shade 010 Sand Beige seemed to be quite light and there were no testers. When I squeezed a bit on my hand at home I was terrified by how dark it was but it blended perfectly and became invisible.

It really is a moisturizing foundation, it gives dewy finish which is good for me as I don't like mat on my face. There are no sparkly particles in it but it gives a very natural glow. Coverage is light - if you need more coverage mix it with a heavier foundation, I used Revlon PhotoReady or Revlon ColorStay and the effect was great. This trick also makes the foundation last longer. It doesn't make the skin look perfect mainly because of the light coverage but it makes the skin look really nice and natural. The formula is weird -mousse-like and kind of greassy even though it's an oil-free product. It blends very well, the packaging has a pomp. The only thing that I don't really like about this foundation is the scent - unpleasant for me, too intensive. Really good value for money.
"For a perfect, retouched complexion: the Photo Finish Liquid Foundation 18h with a “Soft Focus Effect”. Thanks to light-reflecting pigments, it makes your complexion look smooth and radiant for up to 18 hours! The oil-free formula feels pleasantly light on your skin. Available in five shades with a medium coverage, it comes in a high-quality, frosted glass bottle with a practical pump dispenser." Makeup :: Two eyepencils, two lines - today's makeup

Some time ago I wrote about Sephora flashy liners and you probably realised I'm really fond of eyepencils. I have quite a big collection because I'm a woman and women need all the colours in the world :-). Even in my travel makeup bag I have at least three eyepencils. Today I used two different eyepencils because I just couldn't decide which to use - so why not both? I hope you like it.

Products used:
  • NYX pearl eyeshadow base
  • Inglot pigment in 12
  • Yves Rocher Waterproof Eyepencil in 03 Vert
  • Catrice Kajal Designer in 080 Midnight Blue

Nails :: Essence, Colour&Go, 46 Wake up! [NOTD]

Today I wear Essence Colour & Go nail polish in 46 Wake up!. It's an eneregetic, eye-catching bright colour. Application is super easy, one coat is enough - just like in 48 Meet Me Now! and 41 Very Berry. Great on toes too. I'm sure it's going to be a spring/summer favourite.

Nails :: Essence, Colour&Go, 48 Meet Me Now! [NOTD]

Today I'm trying another Essence nail polish from Colour & Go line: 48 Meet Me Now! It's a beautiful powdery pink with purple undertones, much darker than 41 Very Berry, really chic. It applies easily, with no smudges and dries quickly as it's supposed to. Very good nail polish, just like the whole C&G line (with the exception of awful Mellow Yellow).

Makeup :: Inglot, AMC Pure Pigment Eye Shadows

Apart from Inglot eyeshadows one of my favourite Inglot products are AMC Pure Pigment Eye Shadows which I have in twelve shades (when am I going to use it all up?): 31 - pearl deep green, 88 - mat black with sparkles, 75 - pearl white, 30 - light gold, 21 - purple, 14 - pearl golden beige, 12 - pearl pink beige, 52 - pearl light brown with olive sheen, 34 - pearl fuchsia, 48 - pearl coppery pink, 70 - mat teal, 85 - pearl copper with olive sheen (absolutely stunning!). The only two shades I don't like are the mat ones - black and teal. I have problem with applying them - they don't blend well, there's lots of fall out, colours aren't intensive enough. But that's the case with many mat eyeshadows I guess.

Why do I like Inglot pigments so much? Because they are multipurpose. You can use them as eyeshadows - dry or we (with water or Inglot's Duraline, which unfortunately stings my skin). Applying them on a darker shade (eg. smudged/blended black eyeliner pencil) gives a beautiful iridescent effect. You can use them wet as a metalic eyeliner. You can apply them with a small face brush on the cheekbones as a highlighter or mix with a drop of your foundation to make a cream highlighter (shades 12, 14 and 75 are perfect for my light skin). You can even add the pigment to your nail polish (but shake well each time you want to apply it) to make it more sparkly and oplacescent. As I mentioned before I'm not sure if I'd be able to use all my pigments up not only because I have so many of them, but also because you need a really tiny amount. The packaging is nice and elegant. I don't own any MAC pigments but I don't feel any need to.

Makeup :: Inglot eyeshadows swatches

I made swatches of my Inglot eyeshadows so this post is a tiny image overloaded. I have five Freedom System palettes, ten eyeshadows each (I posted pictures of them a while ago). I hope you'll find these swatches useful.

Makeup :: Essence, Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss

One of the new products in Essence range are Stay With Me Longlasting Lipglosses. Colours are so pretty that I would love to buy all the 7 shades. I bought three of them: 02 My Favorite Milkshake (natural shade with a bit of coral), 03 Candy Bar (coraly pink), 07 Kiss Kiss Kiss (red).

Stay With Me glosses have a different applicator than usually lipglosses have. It's easy to apply the product, taste is nice and the packaging cute. Are they really longlasting? In my opinion their staying power is not great but definitely they stay longer than other lipglosses. After application they seem to be quite sticky but this feeling disappears after a while.

Fragrance :: The Body Shop, Love etc... EDP

It's getting warmer so I prefer lighter and more joyful fragrances. Today, I reached for Love etc ... by The Body Shop. It was one of my favourites last summer.

It's a beautiful warm fragrance which can indeed be associated with that euphoric state of falling in love. The first note is fruity-floral (pear, neroli, bergamot), then you can smell flowers - jasmine, heliotrope, lily of the valley (I don't realy like jasmine but it doesn't bother me in this scent), and the base is a vibrant vanilla, intertwined with sandalwood and musk. The base is warm vibrant vanilla without anything fake in it, composed with cream musk and sandal wood. The scent lasts all day and I get compliments when I wear it. Goes well both with casual jeans and evening dress. The alcohol in Love etc... is made from organically grown sugar cane.

Top notes: pear, neroli, bergamot
Heart notes : jasmine,  heliotrope , lily of the valley
Base notes: vanilla,  sandalwoodmusk

Nails :: Catrice 540 Am I Blue or Green & Essence 71 Wanna Kiss [NOTD]

I've tried to paint my nails today with a new nail polish from Catrice in 540 Am I Blue or Green? It says "2 coats" on the bottle but hey, it's quite normal, right? First coat was terrible - uneven, with awful smudges and brush strokes marks. I usually put two coats so I wasn't surprised - some nail polishes are like that. I put the second coat and the effect was terrible again! The third coat finally covered my nails but they looked disguisting. I have weak and uneven nails and this nail polish emphasized everything that I would like to hide. It's 12th Catrice nail polish in my collection and the first one so disappointing.

So I took another nail polish that had been waiting for its turn: Essence in 71 Wanna Kiss. A really pretty cold pastel pink. I put two coats - no smudges. Great value for money!

Nails :: How to quickly repair your manicure

You've probably been in one of these situations before

1. You're going out, your freshly painted nails look so pretty... You're in such a hurry and suddenly you see that there are texture imprints in the polish because it wasn't dry enough...

Or

2. You're going out, everything's ready - hair, perfect makeup... Oh no! You're nail polish is chipping off!

Should you take it off? No! Take a cracking top coat (I used IsaDora Graffiti Nail Top in 806 Subway Green). Paint you're nails with it covering every bit that's damaged. Don't worry, these top coats dry out very fast. Next paint your nails with a high shine quick drying top coat (I used Prismatic Effect from Catrice because the holographic effect it gives makes Subway Green more like a teal). Done! Instead of hiding your hands in your pockets you can show off your manicure!

Makeup :: Manhattan, Go4Big Lashes Mascara & Soft Mat Lipcream

I bought two Manhattan Cosmetics products recently. I just thought I'd give the company a second chance after they discontinued my favourite eye pencil :-).

Manhattan, Go4Big Lashes Mascara

I bought this mascara only because the description on the packaging was quite tempting and there was a huge discount:

"Go for big lashes - expressive volume, maximum length and perfect definition in one. The innovative multi dimension brush even reaches small lashes in the eye corners. Ophthalmologically tested."

It also contains "nourishing panthenol and vitamin E". It's quite similar to one of my all time favourites - False Lash Effect Mascara from Max Factor. It's really black, the brush is rubber and makes mascara application really easy (but be careful, the brush is quite stiff, like in Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara so don't poke yourself in the eye!). The effect is simply beautiful - long, voluminous, defined lashes, exactly the way I love. It doesn't flake. I like the packaging - because of its colour I can easily find it in my makeup bag. It closes with a click so I know that it's closed and won't dry out. The same day I also got Catrice Cosmetics Lashes to Kill Ultra Black Mascara which I thought would be better. But suprisingly it wasn't!

Manhattan, Soft Mat Lipcream

"Creamy soft lip cream, goes on with a velvety soft feel. With an applicator for precise application. Mat finish with extra high coverage."

It has mousse-like formula, very light, not greasy or sticky. It's really mat, longlasting, has high coverage, doesn't dry out my lips. Available in 6 shades only - mine is 54L.

Makeup :: Spring lips part 2 (Miss Sporty lipstick in 053 Watch Out!)

Today I bought another Miss Sporty lipstick in 053 Watch Out! - a coulour I thought was too vivid for me. But it's beautiful and should have been a part of my previous note about lip colours for spring! It's more orange than the lipsticks mentioned earlier on. It brightens up the face, tastes really nice, is creamy and moisturizing and doesn't have any sparkles. There's nothing scary in bright colours!

Makeup :: Catrice, Lashes to Kill, Ultra Black Volume Mascara With Black Diamond Powder

Claims:
"With Black Diamond Powder and Carbon Black for ultra black lashes. The curved brush covers every lash and gives extra volume. Ophthalmologically tested."
Nice, sleek tube, good price (3,99 € for 10 ml). These are all the good things about it. Ultra black? Black - yes, but nothing special. Curved brush? No, it's a typical classic brush. It distributes mascara pretty even though and separates the lashes. Extra volume? No! It gives very natural effect, doesn't make the lashes thicker or longer. I prefer more dramatic effect even on daily basis. It flakes. The smell is too intensive and unpleasant. It doesn't irritate my eyes but it never happened so far with any mascara - obviously my eyes are not sensitive even though I wear contacts.

Skincare :: The New Yves Rocher Cleansers - Rejuvenating Effect

Po polsku

Yves Rocher has recently launched the new line of cleansers with 3 detoxifyng teas. As the producer claims: "green tea extract detoxifies by its antioxidant action, white tea extract detoxifies by re-oxygenating cells, Madagascar tea extract detoxifies by stimulating cellular defenses." No animal ingredients were used. Bottles are eco-friendly: they contain recycled plastic for reduced plastic consumption. The line consists of six products (Velvety Cleansing Milk Smoothing Effect, Express Cleansing Wipes De-Crinkling Effect, Rich Cream Cleanser Re-Nutritive Effect, Micellar Cleansing Water Face, Eyes, Lips, Perfecting Toning Lotion Anti-Fatigue Effect, Exfoliating Foam Cleanser Resurfacing Effect). I’ve tried three of them: Micellar Cleansing Water (free sample, 50 ml), Perfecting Toning Lotion, Exfoilating Foam Cleanser.

Micellar Cleansing Water Face, Eyes, Lips
Packaging is elegant and good quality. The water is herbal scented, removes all makeup quite efficiently provided it’s not waterproof. If you don’t want panda eyes effect you’d need a special makeup remover for waterproof and long-lasting mascara. Overall it’s not a bad product but it’s not as good and efficient as my Bioderma and Bourjois micellar water so I don’t think I’d repurchase. It's quite pricey.

Exfoliating Foam Cleanser Resurfacing Effect
I’m disappointed :-(. The consistency is nice and creamy but definitely it’s not a foam cleanser. It contains small beads (apricot seed powder) which exfoliate quite gently so it can be used daily. The problem is that when I rinse this cleanser off my skin feels very dry, tighten and... dirty! It leaves kind of a film on the skin, something waxy-like, horrible! I can't see absolutely no benefits of using it. It's the first cleansing product that broke me out. The product contains quite a lot of preservatives and is not paraben-free. I won’t buy it again.

Perfecting Toning Lotion Anti-Fatigue Effect
It’s thick, gel-like, with a wonderful scent - subtle and relaxing. Because of the consistency don't use it like a toner, don’t apply it with a cotton pad as it’s said on the packaging. It just doesn’t make sense, everything would soak into the cotton pad not your skin. Squeeze a small amount of the lotion (it doesn't come with a pomp, buy one at YR! it’s brilliant!) and pat it onto your face. It feels sooooo nice and refreshing, just like a nice feather-light moisturizing gel. You might event find you don't need to follow with a moisturizer. It doesn't break me out, which is always a good thing :-). My skin feels nourished and soft. I think I'm in love... I will definitely repurchase.

To sum up, this new line of cleansers consist of good, average and bad products... Each of the three products I've tried is fragranced and rich in botanical-based ingredients so I wouldn't recommend them to people with sensitive or allergy prone skin. As to prices the whole range is a bit too pricey in my opinion - if you want to buy it wait for some kind of discount. Rejuvenating effect? I don't know about that... Well, many women look younger after removing makeup ;-).

Makeup :: Sephora Flashy Liner Eye Pencils

One of the things always present in my makeup bag are Sephora Flashy Liners Waterproof. These soft eye pencils are very blendable, you can smudge them as a base for smokey eyes. Before Christmas sets consisting of 7 mini pencils were available at Sephora but I thought it was way too expensive so when I saw the set on sale I didn't hesitate. Now I have 16 shades. All of them are vivid and metallic (apart from 10 Deep Black which is just a black). Pencil itself is very soft and creamy which makes it ideal to put on waterline. And that's exactly the trick I do when I want to turn my neutral eye makeup into something more sophisticated and colourful. Although it's quite longlasting and waterproof, it's good to have it in your purse for touch-ups.

At sephora.com there are some new shades: 14 Flashy Taupe, 15 Flashy Black Purple and 17 Flashy Moss. Maybe someday they will be available in Poland. I can't wait!

Cruelty free

Price: 8$ for 0.04 oz

All the shades contain:
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CI 77499 (ION OXIDES), MICA, C11-12 ISOPARAFFIN, PARAFFIN, POLYBUTENE, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, HYDROGENATED COTTONSEED OIL, CERESIN, OZOKERITE, CERA MICROCRISTALLINA (MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX), PHENOXYETHANOL, TOCOPHEROL, ASCORBYL PALMITATE.

Makeup :: Spiring lips

Spring is here. And even if it's cold and windy you can always use colour to make it feel more like spring.

One of the biggest trends this spring are coral, peachy and orange lips. Lipstics I had chosen turned out to be quite similar to each other, only prices differ. The cheapest one is Miss Sporty Perfect Color Lipstick in 054 Read My Lips, more pricey but still on the budget is the lightest and most intense in color Inglot Lipstick no. 858, the most expensive is MAC Lipstick in Crosswires. In fact Read My Lips is a dupe of Crosswires. For those who prefer lipglosses I recommend affordable SunClub Refreshing & Moisturizing Lipgloss SPF 6 in 09 Sunkiss Coral from Essence.

MAC Lipstick, Crosswires
Honestly nothing special - pretty packaging, beautiful colour, great taste but longevity and moisturizing properties only average. So more or less everything you can find in cheaper brands. I suppose it's the first and the last MAC lipstick in my makeup collection - for its price I could buy a few cheaper brand lipsticks.

Miss Sporty Perfect Color Lipstick, Read My Lips
Great value for money. Pretty colour, smell and taste very nice (watermelon?), average longevity, nice packaging - a bit too cheap and I suppose not very durable but if it breaks you can afford to buy another one.

Inglot Lipstick, 858
Nice taste and smell, professional looking tube. Affordable, enormous range of shades (about 200 I believe). It dries my lips a bit though, could be more creamy. Nice colour, quite longlasting, great as a lip stain.

Essence, Refreshing & Moisturizing Lipgloss SPF 6, 09 Sunkiss Coral
Even if you prefer lipglosses over lipstics you can get spring coraly lips. Essence lipgloss in 09 Sunkiss Coral gives a hint of colour and brings your face to life.

Don't forget about your nails! My recommendations are: Glam Wear in 403 from Polish brand Bell, Miss Sporty in 326, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in 11 Sonic Bloom, Catrice in 170 I Scream Peach! or 030 Meet Me At Coral Island.

Makeup :: Obsessed with Inglot eyeshadows

One day I decided to buy Inglot Freedom System eyeshadow palette. The shop assistant gave me a magnetic pad to put on eyeshadows I pick. She also told me that a palette might consist of two, four, five or ten eyeshadows. Ten? Really? I thought it was impossible to pick that much. I started picking and choosing and after a while I realised that there are 12 pans on my pad. About a month later I went to Inglot again to buy another palette (5 eyeshadows max I thought). Did I buy a bigger palette? Yes. Was it my second and last palette? No... Now I have five palettes, 10 square eyeshadows each, which gives total of 50 eyeshadows. A lot? Well, Inglot website says there are 158 colours and shades of Freedom System eyeshadows so definitely I'm gonna need some more...

The quality of these shadows is great - soft, creamy, blendable, affordable. I also love the packaging because it's modern, stackable, the lid is transparent so I can see what's inside and . Inglot eyeshadows are paraben free and not tested on animals (however I don't know if third party manufacturers test on animals).

My palettes:

Basic neutral

Neutral no. 2

Smokey

Berries & co.

Brights
