Makeup :: Catrice Gel Eyeliners (black and brown)

I'm always on the hunt for good and affordable gel or cream eyeliner. I don't really understand why but no of the Polish drugstore makeup brands produces gel eyeliners apart from Inglot. We don't have ELF, Sleek, No. 7 etc. and the only brands that have gel or cream eyeliners (Bobby Brown, Clinique, MAC) are expensive. So when new Catrice eyeliners arrived at my local store I was very excited and bought both colours: 010 Black Jack with Black Jack (black) and 020 It's Mambo Nr. 2 (brown).

Packaging is really sleek and it doesn't look at all like a drugstore product at all. It's a quite a heavy classic glass jar containing 4.0g/0.14 oz. of product.

Let's look inside. Both colours look absolutely gorgeous. Black is really black and shiny (it dries mat though). Brown is more like a grayish brown not chocolate which makes it very wearable (great colour for natural looks) and it has some iridescence - just very subtle silvery sparkles so it's kind of a cooler version of Clinique Brush-on Cream Liner in 08 bronze which is more chocolate brown and has golden sparkles. What I absolutely hate about this liner is the smell of this liner - something like a mixture of butter and plastic...

Formula. It glides on pretty good however the formula of these eyeliners is much too runny and watery for me though. It seems to be nicely pigmented when you look at it in the jar but a line looks uneven, colour seems to fade. It's not that bad with the black but brown is very disappointing. Perhaps it would get better when it dries out a bit.

Staying power. I have hooded eyes and every eyeliner transfers, no matter what brand, what method of applying or setting it and Catrice is unfortunately no exception. Don't expect it to stay all day long. The black eyeliner lasts a bit longer than the brown one. And even though it may seem that there's nothing left on your lids in the evening you'd better get a good makeup remover to take it off - you'd be surprised how much stays between your eyelashes.

All in all these are not bad but I expected a better performance :-(. I hoped it would be my holy grail but sadlt it isn't. I'll get back to them when they dry out a bit.
